CFD-4 Software Development Team
Dr. Robert L. Meakin
is the technical director of the project and is responsible for coordinating all aspects
of the research, facilitating team meetings, coordination with team members, and formal
transmission of all project deliverables to the DoD Scalable Software Library. Dr.
Meakin is also on the software development team and is primarily responsible for the
solution adaption and domain connectivity portions of OVERFLOW-D. He will apply project
software to one of the project's major demonstration applications.
The software development team also includes two on-site support service contractors, Drs.
William Chan and Mark Potsdam. Dr. Chan is a
Senior Research Scientist on the professional staff of MCAT, Inc. He is responsible
for development and integration of all CHSSI CFD-4 overset grid generation utilities and
associated documentation. Dr. Chan supports project software during the life of CHSSI and
participates as an instructor at CHSSI CFD-4 and PET sponsored training sessions for
overset methods. Dr. Potsdam is a Research
Scientist, also on the professional staff of MCAT, Inc. Dr. Potsdam is responsible
for the parallelization of AFDD's dynamic Chimera version of the OVERFLOW* flow solver.
Dr. Potsdam supports project software during the life of the project and participates as
an instructor at CHSSI CFD-4 and PET sponsored training sessions for overset methods.
*Note: The well known OVERFLOW code was, of course, developed by Dr. Pieter Buning
at NASA Ames Research Center. The "dynamic" version referred to here uses Dr.
Meakin's domain connectivity (DCF3D), 6-degrees-of-freedom (SIXDOF), and suite of solution
adaption routines as subroutine calls. These calls allow OVERFLOW to be used to simulate
problems that involve relative motion between component parts. Hence, the CFD-4
parallelization effort is for AFDD's OVERFLOW-D, not NASA's standard OVERFLOW code.
