Beginning October 2, 2000 the Rotorcraft Aeromechanics Branch will begin testing of Millennium Jet Inc.'s SoloTrek XFV ducted rotor in the 7- by 10-Foot Wind Tunnel. The goal of this test is to provide data necessary to assist in the design code development. Additionally, surface flow visualization techniques (smoke, tufts and oil) will be used to monitor flow patterns along the duct.

Two separate data acquisition systems will be used to monitor various tunnel and model parameters during the test. Numerous structural and balance loads data will be acquired and the safety of flight monitoring system will be utilized to assure a safe wind tunnel test.
